My Story

Hi, my name is Liv and I'm 15. I absolutely love swimming and swim regularly at Pontefract Marlins Swim Club.

I am challenging myself to complete a sponsored swim of 21 miles, which is the equivalent of swimming the English Channel, I will be swimming one mile every day for 21 consecutive days in October 2021 to raise funds for the Neonatal Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.

I am starting the swim on the 1st of October 2021 and will therefore finish it on the 21st of October 2021, the 21st of October is a very special date to me because my sister Evie was born on this date in 2009.

Evie was born with an undiagnosed Right-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and sadly she passed away in the Peter Congdon Neonatal unit at LGI a couple of days later.

All the amazing staff on the unit did a fantastic job of looking after Evie and our family while we were there and the work they did has also inspired me to want to become a midwife.

Your support and kind donations will be very much appreciated and all the money raised will go directly to the Neonatal Unit at LGI to help care for sick babies in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message. Liv xx
