Fundraising in memory of Jody de Vos

My Story

Jody de Vos was a remarkable young man whose life was tragically cut short at the age of just 38 when he died from MND. Jody was happily living in Australia when he was diagnosed. He returned home to West Yorkshire as his disease progressed to be looked after by his mum, Jude. Despite being dealt such a cruel hand of fate, Jody fought MND with immense dignity. His philosophy was 'To Live Life Now', which he did to the very end.

MND robbed our friend, Jude, of her only son. It robbed her of hundreds of future memories, thousands of phone calls and messages never to be shared, and so many smiles never to be seen. This vile disease shatters lives and causes unimaginable heartache.

We (Andy & Wasim) want to support the MND community by taking part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on 14 May. We are fundraising for Leeds Hospitals Charity to help build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND. This centre would have been a godsend for Jody and Jude. It will be the first in the country designed around the needs of MND patients and their families.

Although the two of us run quite a lot, a marathon is well and truly out of our comfort zones. It will be very difficult but nothing compared to what the MND community endures. We would be extremely grateful for anything you're able to donate in Jody's memory. Thank you.
